Hits & Misses – Food Trends of 2012

As 2012 comes to a close, AllRecipes decided take a look at food trends that dominated the year. In their Measuring Cup Report, they share what they learned over a year of gathering data at the world’s largest digital food site. Some of the biggest food trends of the year – healthy, protein-powerful foods trumped carb-laden Italian comfort classics and familiar ethnic dishes (teriyaki, kabobs, enchiladas) as home cooks experimented with exotic. That is until cravings for comfort food surged, making meat loaf, canning recipes, lava cake and slow cookers equally hot. It’s a great read for those interested in food, whether as a glimpse into the past or a peek into what might be to come in 2013.
