Homemade Foodie Gifts Series #1: Pumpkin Pie Spice

By aggieskitchen |

Every year around this time I find myself thinking of those ‘special’ gifts I want to make for people not usually on my regular Christmas shopping list. You know the people I’m talking about…neighbors, coworkers, teachers, the people that are in your life and want to treat with something thoughtful and from the heart to let them know they are important to you.

I’m also thinking of gifts for those hard to shop for people on my list too…they happen to all be men in my situation, my brother, brother in law, dad and grandfather. I have something in store for them, and it’s not this Pumpkin Pie Spice blend in case you are wondering.

So even though it’s still October, I know I’m not the only one thinking ahead like this. Stay tuned for my Holiday Foodie Gifts Series, where I’ll be featuring two or three homemade food-inspired gifts each week for the next month to help you get ready for the gift-giving season ahead of us.

Up first…Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice.

Rachel of Not Rachael Ray put together her own flavorful spice mix and packaged it in a cute little jar. Who wouldn’t be happy receiving a jar like that? Don’t worry, this spice mix is still perfect for holiday gift giving…it’s not just for Thanksgiving pumpkin pie, you can use it to sprinkle over sweet potatoes, toast or even to spice up your breakfast bowl of oats. Something like this would make a great gift for neighbors and teachers who love to cook or bake.

Hop over to Not Rachael Ray blog for Rachel’s recipe for Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice!

Up next in the series…Cinnamon Honey Butter.
