Until today I didn’t know that square watermelons existed. I saw a post on Babble’s Family Style Blog about these uniquely shaped fruits and I was strangely curious. Apparently square watermelons were engineered to fit into our fridges better. I suppose it makes sense. A traditionally shaped watermelon is large and awkward and does take up a large amount of space. Now with a little help from Japanese engineering you can grow your own fridge friendly square melons. It is hip to be square right?
With a few tools and this step by step tutorial on Instructables you’ll be on your way to growing square watermelons in no time at all.
