My uncle used to tote his own batch of honey butter to family gatherings. We’d all be pulling out fried chicken and hot biscuts at the annual summer family picnic, and he’d pull out a ketchup-bottle filled with creamy yellow honey butter. We kids would scoop rolls in hand and hover around him, hoping he’d drizzle that honey butter our way.
The sort of honey butter I’m talking about isn’t the usual mixture that results from a quick stir together of honey and butter. It’s a creamy, caramel-flavored spread. There’s a secret for making it in a way that wow’s and I’ve got that secret recipe all lined up for you. Here’s how you make truly perfect honey butter…
Perfect Honey Butter
1/2 cup butter, slightly softened
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg yolk
1/2 cup honey
hip butter, then add vanilla and egg yolk. Add honey gradually while whipping and mix until creamy. Chill before serving.
TIP: Because this contains raw egg, refrigerate after serving and avoid serving to pregnant women.
