Ina Garten is my trusted go to source for Thanksgiving. Whether it’s her simple directions for roasting a turkey, her spinach gratin, or her chocolate dipped pecan squares, I know that whatever I make of hers will be flawless and flavorful. Perhaps my favorite Thanksgiving recipe of hers though, is her simply amazing Apple Crostata. It is the simplest of the simple, even for non-pie bakers. I made it for my friend one Thanksgiving, and now she makes it for her other friends, and they request it on a regular basis. The beauty of the recipe is that it’s easy to double. Our family usually eats one on Thanksgiving, and the next on Black Friday. Didn’t anyone ever tell you apple pie is the perfect Black Friday breakfast?
That’s why this year, if I’m brave enough to go to the Apple Store for Black Friday 2010 and relish all their deals, I plan on going home afterward, and before tucking my weary shopping worn body back into bed, having a good tuck in with a piece of Ina Garten’s Apple Crostata.
Her recipe is found on the Food Network.
