It's National Root Beer Float Day!

Happy National Root Beer Float Day! This classic can be considered a drink and a dessert and is one of the easiest treats you can make.  The float is a fun, quick treat to make and can feed many quickly and rather inexpensively. Some may be purists and prefer to stick with the classic of Vanilla Ice Cream and Root Beer (a ‘brown cow’) but some stray and choose….

Chocolate Ice Cream and Cola (a ‘black cow’).  When I indulge into a root beer float, I go for the ‘brown cow’ version and first make sure that I purchase quality Vanilla Ice Cream (meaning composed of cream, sugar, milk & vanilla etc. with no funny stuff in there) such as Breyer’s ‘All Natural Vanilla’ or Stonyfield Farms ’Gotta Have Vanilla’.  I then grab some Hansen’s Root Beer Soda, Whipping Cream and naturally, Cherries.

Whatever your preference, be sure to gather the family and enjoy this old fashioned treat.
