Bisquick Apple Fritters

by Cheri of Kitchen Simplicity

These quick and easy apple fritters come together in a flash with the help of homemade Bisquick mix. I get my 2-year-old involved by letting him stir

the batter and eat the apple peels.

Serving Size

Makes approximately 2 dozen fritters

  • 2 cups homemade Bisquick mix
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 apple, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • Canola oil, for deep frying
  • Icing sugar, to dust

Stir together Bisquick mix, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar. Mix in oil, egg, milk, and vanilla just until evenly moistened. Fold in apple chunks. Refrigerate until ready to fry.

Add enough oil to a deep saucepan to come up a couple of inches. Heat oil to 350°F. Drop the batter by tablespoon amounts into the hot oil and fry until golden and cooked through, flipping halfway through cooking time. Remove from pot and drain on paper towels. Toss in icing sugar and serve. (These are best served fresh.)

I love this recipe. I’ve been afraid to deep fry but I think this recipe might inspire me to overcome it!
