Kiwi Pops!

By bellalimento |

This is a delicious treat that my  kids love, and hopefully yours will too. It’s also a wonderful snack/dessert that they can help make. My kids love inserting the sticks {you can use Popsicle sticks or candy sticks} and even more so they love dipping them into the chocolate.

Grab a few kiwis {because chances are good they’re going to want more than one pop} next time you’re in the market and you’ll probably have the remaining ingredients in your pantry and you’ll be all set!

Kiwi Pops
What you’ll need: {makes 3-4 pops per kiwi depending on kiwi size}
1 kiwi – peeled and sliced into 3-4 vertical slices
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoon olive oil

What to do:
1. Place a candy stick or Popsicle stick into bottom of each kiwi slice. Careful not to pierce through kiwi.

2. Place kiwi slices w/sticks onto a silicon mat {or similar}. Place into freezer until frozen. Approximately 45 minutes – 1 hour.

3. When kiwi slices are nearly frozen, into a small bowl add: chocolate chips and oil. Mix. Either melt in microwave or in a double boiler on your stove until melted.

4. Remove kiwi slices from freezer. Dip each one into chocolate. Return to silicon mat and back into freezer when all pops have been dipped. Leave in freezer until chocolate has hardened.

    I’ve been in love with kiwi ever since I was young. When I would go visit my grandma in the city, she would buy it for me and slice it up every morning for my breakfast. So easy to please a country kid :)

    Have you ever tried dried kiwi? It’s hard to find-I only find it at the Mexican markets, but man, it’s delicious!

    i found it easier to freeze the kiwi first so that the kiwi doesn’t get squished in your hand when inserting the stick…
