Make a Perfect Upside Down Cake, Pineapple or Otherwise

Pineapple upside-down cake is the most famous of the upside-down cakes, but there are lots of other upside down cakes that you can make that are every bit as delicious. I f you’d like to mix things up this year, cherries, apples, and pears all make excellent upside-down cake options and by keeping in mind a couple of tips, you can ensure that you’ll have an excellent upside-down cake every time.

The first thing to remember is that flipping the cake out of the pan is the crucial step, so you want to make sure that you butter the sides of the pan really well. The second is that you want to monitor carefully how much juice the fruit releases when you cook it and, if there’s a lot, pour some off before you add the batter to keep your cake from being soggy.
