Make Veggie Prep a Cinch with Hefty Slider Bags

My favorite thing about summer is definitely all of the fresh produce. My family revels in the season’s bounty, and we rely on fast, fresh, veggie-laden dinners all through July and August. But sometimes, it can feel like all I do is prep and chop produce. So lately, with the help of Hefty slider bags, I’ve been paying it forward. Whenever I’m chopping vegetables like summer squash, zucchini, cucumbers, carrots, or sweet peppers, I cut up all that I have and refrigerate the extras in a Hefty slider bag. That way, I have veggies for camp lunches and quick dinners all ready to go! And easier mornings and dinners are pretty awesome in my book.

We live off of fresh fruits and veggies during the summer! Hefty bags really do keep everything very fresh.
Ugh I know what you mean. Prepping is the worst part of cooking!
Good idea — always be prepared!!
hmmm…how long can veggies stay fresh in these bags?
This is a great idea. They can also be frozen for a few days in there if they’re about to go bad.
This is such a great idea – prepping can take up so much time but using these bags makes it so much easier to do ahead!
that’s a good question jessie…I’m also wondering how long veggies stay fresh stored like this. I always worry that freezing things is going to affect how they taste
Hi Jessie, It depends on the vegetable, but I’d be very comfortable with three days sealed in the fridge.
Oh totally! I like to cut up extra this and some extra that and store it away for the next couple days, it makes cooking so much easier!
I totally do this! I always buy a ton of fresh produce (more than we’d ever eat in a week!) so when it looks like it’s ready to go bad I’ll cut it up and freeze it in slider bags. Then I have veggies all ready to go for a quick stir fry dinner!
great tip, especially with the prospect of preparing school lunches coming up
