One of my favorite features on Grub Street.com is their New York Diet. It profiles celebs, reality stars, chefs and more by following their diet for a week – it is written in first person, so you have to decide for yourself if the described “diet diary” is true or not. This week’s diet was the one and only Martha Stewart.
Though I would’ve loved to hear more about what Martha eats when she is at home rather than her on-the-go food like bad event fish or airplane coffee – I did love one part of Martha’s diet – it seems to be a notable addiction/obsession – green juice! She says she has her “secret green juice” every morning. But then later in the post she gives the recipe away! Find out the green juice secret recipe. Secret is out Martha! ..because you told us..
Early in the article Martha refers to her green jjuice recipe as “secret” green juice. Then later she says this.. “Every morning I drink a green juice made from fresh spinach, parsley, pear, ginger, orange, and cucumber from my farm.”
So I will conclude that Martha’s green juice goes something like this These are estimated quantities of ingredients – only Martha knows the true ratios! Will she ever share them??
My Guess on Martha’s Green Juice or Smoothie
version #1 – whole food “green smoothie” version (using a high speed blender)
1 cup fresh spinach
1/4 cup fresh parsley
1 small pear. de-stemmed
1 tsp grated ginger
1 whole orange, peeled
1 cup cucumber cubes
1/4 cup ice
version #2 – juicer version (you will need a juicer)
add to juicer:
1/2 medium cucumber
1 small pear
1 tsp ginger
1 orange, peeled and cubed
1-2 cups fresh spinach
1/2 cup fresh parsley
Serve – enjoy – feel as energized and forever young as the lovely Martha Stewart
