Michelle Obama's Healthy Lunchtime Challenge

Michelle Obama and Epicurious have teamed up with the U.S. Departments of Education and Agriculture and launched the “Healthy Lunchtime Challenge,” a recipe contest aimed at promoting healthy lunches. What’s the prize? Why, a trip to Washington D.C. to attend a “State Dinner” at the White House, of course. Part of the “Let’s Move” Initiative by the First Lady, this promises to make a few special children quite happy indeed. Details after the jump.

The Healthy Lunchtime Challenge will run through June 17th, 2012. Parents and children aged 8 to 12 years old are encouraged to come up with a “healthy and delicious” lunch recipe using the My Plate recommendations as a guide for your lunch box and keeping the recipe affordable.

One recipe from each of the 50 states, D.C. and Puerto Rico will win a spot at the dinner table. So, put your thinking caps on, start planning lunchtime, and get cooking!
