  • Cranberry Coconut-water Faux-jito

    Cranberry Coconut-water Faux-jito

Take a handful of cranberries and muddle them with a tablespoon of mint leaves and 1-2 tablespoons of sugar, depending on how sweet you like your drink (you can also throw the whole thing in the food processor if you prefer). To this mixture, add the juice of one lime, then fill up the rest of your glass with a combo of coconut water and sparkling water. Rim your glass with sugar and garnish with mint for an extra-fancy touch.

  • Hot Buttered Un-rum

    Hot Buttered Un-rum

Mix 1 tablespoon each of softened butter and brown sugar in a few tablespoons of boiling water. Add 1 teaspoon of rum extract*. Pour into a glass garnished with a cinnamon stick and lemon peel studded with cloves. Fill the rest of the glass with boiling water. Top with whipped cream!
Try this recipe for Butterbeer (don’t worry, there’s no beer involved) »

*Extract contains a very small amount of alcohol; you can cook the alcohol off on the stove or in the microwave if you wish. You may also be able to find oil- or glycerin-based rum flavoring at a specialty bake supply store.

  • Virgin Sangria

    Virgin Sangria

Sangria is a great way to get some fruit and fiber along with your beverage. Choose the juice of your choice as a base. Pomegranate or concord grape juices are great for red sangria; for a white version, white grape or apple will work. Fill with whatever fruit you like: apples, pears, berries, citrus…letting the mix chill in the fridge for a while will allow the flavors to mingle. You can also add a splash of brandy extract to give it a more authentic taste.
Just take out the wine and triple sec before sipping this pomegranate peach sangria »

  • Molasses Mule

    Molasses Mule

The Moscow mule is a classic cocktail made with vodka and ginger ale. This mocktail version subs in molasses for a rich-tasting drink that’s also high in iron. Dilute 1 tablespoon of molasses (not blackstrap) in hot water. Add the juice of one lime. Allow to cool. Fill the glass with ginger ale and garnish with mint.
You can also try this hot, spiced ginger lemonade »

  • Anita Cocktail

    Anita Cocktail

This “cocktail analcoholico” is popular in Italy and a great not-too-sweet option. Mix equal parts lemon and orange juice with a splash (or two) of bitters. Fill the rest of the glass with club soda or sparkling water.
Ditch the vodka and this summery lemon slushie becomes a holiday mocktail »

  • Virgin Mary

    Virgin Mary

This version of a Bloody Mary adds an unusual but very pregnancy-appropriate ingredient: pickle juice! Mix 1-2 ounce of pickle juice with 6 ounce of tomato or vegetable juice. Add a teaspoon of horseradish (less if it’'s super spicy and you don’'t like spicy), ½ teaspoon of celery salt, and the juice of one lemon. If you'’re into hot, add some Tabasco and black pepper. Pour over ice and garnish with celery…or a pickle!

You can also add these clever fruit cubes to flavor a bubbly drink »

  • Creamsicle Eggnog

    Creamsicle Eggnog

You can buy regular eggnog mix at the supermarket, but here’'s a twist: Blend ¾ cup vanilla frozen custard or premium ice cream with 1 cup orange juice and 1 tsp rum extract (optional). Top with cinnamon, nutmeg and orange zest, and, if you'’re feeling like pulling out all the stops, whipped cream.
