It’s official! Santa’s on his way, which means there are just a few hours left to make him a plate of his favorite cookies. But, with so many cookie recipes to choose from, which ones will make Santa the happiest?  We put in a phone call to the North Pole media team, who put us through to Albie, the head chef of Santa’s Winter Wonderland bakery, and he gave the 411 on which cookie Santa loves best. It’s colorful, soft, and super jolly–just the sort of cookie you’d expect Santa to like.

With Santa’s sleigh just around the corner, it’s time to start baking up a plate of his favorite cookies!  Here’s the top secret recipe, straight from the North Pole. Won’t Santa be surprised to find them on your fireplace tonight?!

Santa’s Favorite Super-Soft Melt-In-Your-Mouth Sugar Cookies
2/3 cup shortening
2/3 cup butter
1 1/2 cups white sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt

In a large bowl, beat together the shortening, butter, sugar, and eggs until light and fluffy. Add the remaining ingredients and continue mixing them into the dough until well combines. Roll out on a lightly floured surface until 1/2″ thick. Bake in an oven preheated to 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

Frost with Santa’s Perfect Vanilla Buttercream and decorate with sprinkles, candy, and magical reindeer food.
