Nutella Cheesecake Brownies: Three Words You Should Most Definitely Eat

By Brooke McLay |

First, there is a brownie layer.  Good heck.  It’s soft and moist and full of rich, chocolate flavor with the tinsiest hint of nutella hidden inside.  As if that wasn’t enough, there’s a second layer.  A fat, soft, gloriously cheesecakey layer, made deep and dark with a fat spoonful of nutella.  Nutella.  Cheesecake.  Brownies.  There’s so much to say about these little cocoa colored squares.  Unfortunately, I won’t be able to say anything else about them because I plan to fill my mouth with bite after bite of their perfectly baked yumminess for the rest of the afternoon.  Peace out.

For the Brownie Layer

4 eggs
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cocoa powder
1/2 cup nutella
1/3 cup flour

For Nutella Cheesecake Layer:
8 ounce cream cheese
1/2 cup nutella
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs

In one bowl, beat all the brownie ingredients together.  In a separate bowl, beat together all of the Nutella Cheesecake ingredients.  Scrape the brownie batter into the bottom of an 8×8 pan (yes! it will be quite full.  These are thick brownies!)  Spoon little plops of the nutella cheesecake all over the top of the brownie batter.  Smooth the cheesecake carefully and completely over the brownie layer with a spatula.  Bake in an oven preheated to 350 degrees and bake for 50-55 minutes.  The center of the brownies will be set, but if you poke a toothpick into them, it won’t come out dry.  No worries!  The cheesecake layer needs to cool completely to set up.

Cool, slice, bite, enjoy.

This looks amazing, but 3/4 what of cocoa powder? Tablespoon? Cup?

  3. Catherine says:

Mmmmm! Delectable. I’m a huge Nutella fan, & will be making these for my family at Christmas.

Oh my goodness – I should NOT have come to this blog today and read this. I have a great recipe for really fudgy, good brownies and I’m going to figure out a way to incorporate the Nutella into it. (I have to stop making all these desserts. Sheesh!) I’ve been making dessert items faster than I can post ‘em on my blog

  7. Suzanne says:

Ok… 2 questions: 1) 3/4 ? Coco powder… C T t? and 2) So you don’t bake the brownies first, then add the top and bake again? You do it all at once???

  8. Cakes&Bakes says:

These look amazing! That sounds like a really long baking time though. I like my brownies just barely cooked and gooey. Do you think I should reduce it?

  9. Kayla says:

I would guess 3/4 Cup of coco powder, anything else doesn’t make sense.

These look sooo delcious! My husband has been begging me to make these, but I don’t have enough Nutella and haven’t made it to the store yet!

  10. Rosana says:

OMG!! I am soooo making these. But only once :)

  11. Aleisha says:

The picture looked fudgy but mine came out more cake-like. Are they supposed to be that way?

  12. John Khuu says:

I saw this and I cried in happiness.

  13. Jennifer says:

I made these…seems the recipe might be a little too simplistic? I’d suggest mixing the wet ingredients and dry ingredients separately and then combining for the brownie layer, maybe try mixing the cream cheese with the sugar and nutella prior to adding eggs for the cheesecake layer? The flavor was good, but the cheesecake layer was mottled with cheesecake rather than being velvety chocolate like the picture.

  14. maret says:

These aren’t bad brownies, but the nuttella taste is so mild, it’s barely recognizable unless you know it’s there.

I have these in the oven RIGHT now! Not sure I’ll be able to resist during the cooling process!

  17. Rachel says:

I just made these tonight for the hurricane ; ) needs about 1/4 cup of sugar in the brownie batter or they taste very bland. Good idea to mix dry ingredients first then wet ingredients. Definitely do the cream cheese, sugar then Nutella and eggs or it will be lumpy with cream cheese. Also, the Nutella isn’t very present, I frosted them with a Nutella/powdered sugar frosting afterwards and they were delish : )

  18. NLiff says:

I made these tonight! These turned out very addicting! After reading the comments I made a few changes. For the brownie layer I used two eggs and two egg yolks. I also added a 1/2 cup of white sugar in addition to the brown sugar. I also used a heaping 1/2 cup of nutella. Mix all of the dry ingredients together first. Cream the butter and nutella together, then add the eggs one by one to that. Finally, combine your wet & dry ingredients. For the cream cheese layer, I used another heaping 1/2 cup of nutella. I also creamed the cream cheese and nutella, then added the sugar and mixed until well combined. Finally, I added the eggs one at a time. I stuck with the temp and time in the recipe. The result was a dense, fudgy brownie layer and smooth cream cheese layer… Just like the picture!

  19. Linda Baker says:

These are in the oven right now. I got lazy and just put all the ingredients to both parts in my KitchenAid and let ‘er rip!. Hope they turn out O.K.

  20. Laura says:

These are delicious but very rich! Mine also came out cake like. In my opinion makes 1X1 inch brownies.

  21. Katie says:

So, do we use 3/4 cup for the cocoa powder?

  22. Leslie says:

I followed NLIFF’s suggestions and they turned out perfect! Also, it is 3/4 cups for the cocoa powder. My husband said that it was the best dessert I have ever made…and I have made many! Enjoy!

  23. I am not sure where you’re getting your info, but good topic. I needs to spend some time learning more or understanding more. Thanks for magnificent information I was looking for this Nutella Cheesecake Brownies: The Definition of Perfection | Family Kitchen for my mission.
