Oscar 2011: Time For Appetizers

The Oscars will be airing very soon, live at 8PM EST and 5PM PST. We are already watching the LIVE red carpet event, as all the actors and actresses show up in their beautiful fashions. Our funnest part of the night is predicting who will be named best and worst dressed.  What are your predictions? The hosts of tonight’s show are Anne Hathaway (best known for The Princess Diaries and Brokeback Mountain) and James Franco (best known for his role in Spider Man). As we watch tonight, we’ll be snacking on some of our favorite healthy snacks, like red pepper hummus with fresh vegetables.

One of our next favorite games to do as we snack on our appetizers and watch the award show is to predict who will get played off in their acceptance speech. You know those actors and actresses whose acceptance speech just drones on and on? Then the producers switch to the theme music to cue the babbling actor or actress to get off the stage. We also make martinis and take a sip anytime our “magic word” is said in an acceptance speech. Tonight’s magic word? Agent.

Tonight we’ll be sipping PAMA martinis, a delicious pomegranate martini. We’re hoping Black Swan will win lots of awards, but will be happy for whoever wins! Everyone who received a nomination for the Oscars has already received such an honor. Here are some of our favorite appetizer recipes here at the Family Kitchen that will be perfect to snack on as you watch the Oscars.
