The Plant City Florida Strawberry festival starts today. This is a huge festival full of all types of carnival rides, good food, and lots of entertainment. This 11 day festival has all types of family fun including livestock shows, a beauty pageant, and even some lumberjacks. This is down-home southern charm at it’s best. I personally can’t wait to go. We’ll be driving over on Saturday for a fun-filled day. The festival manager, Paul Davis says he’s anticipating upwards of 40,000 visitors in the first day alone.
There will be lots of food vendors, including several booths from local area churches devoted to strawberry shortcake alone. They expect to sell as many as 30,000 strawberry shortcakes at the festival at $3.50 each. If your planning a last minute trip to this festival, be sure to visit The Red Rose Inn and Suites to check for travel accommodations.
The festival is today, March 3 through March 13. Gates open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The address is 303 N. Lemon St., Plant City, Florida.
Tickets purchased in advance at area Sweetbay Supermarkets are $8 for ages 13 and older and $4 for ages 6 to 12. Gate prices are $10 and $5, respectively. Children 5 and younger are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.
