Popcorn is so easy to make at home. Forget those microwavable bags. They have chemicals that can be harmful to your health. If you must use your microwave to cook your popcorn, you can always use a paper bag. Just add the ingredients below to a paper bag, fold over tightly and microwave on high until you can count 2 seconds between popping. I don’t like this way though because the oil always leaks and makes a mess. Stove-top is our preferred method. For cooking, vegetable or olive oil works well, but my favorite is coconut oil. Coconut oil makes the best popcorn you have ever tasted. Old-fashioned movie theater popcorn is made with coconut oil, that’s what gives it it’s unique flavor.
I find the easiest way to make old-fashioned movie theater popcorn is at home is on the stove. Here is what you’ll need:
Coconut, vegetable or olive oil
a saucepan and a large serving bowl
I just line the bottom of any sauce pan with popping corn, and enough coconut oil to completely surround the kernels, and then turn the heat on medium. All you have to do then is follow the same rules with microwave popcorn, When you can count 2 seconds between pops, it’s done!
Sprinkle with a little salt and add melted butter if desired.
