Did you know you can make ice cream bread with just flour and ice cream? Yes, it truly is that easy. The other day I was making a small loaf with my daughter and we decided to split the dough and color it with a few drops of food dye. It was so easy and we were handily able to make a great loaf of red, white and blue bread. It only seemed appropriate given that July 4th is right around the corner. This would be an awesome treat for the fourth and for making with kids!
Red White & Blue Ice Cream Bread
2 cups vanilla ice cream
1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
Red food coloring
Blue food coloring
1.Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
2. In a large mixing bowl combine the ice cream and flour until a dough forms. Then, split the dough into three portions. Stir a couple of drops of red food coloring into one portion to turn it red. Then, stir a few drops of blue food coloring into a different portion to turn it blue. Leave the third portion plain white.
3. Layer the dough in a 5 x 3 loaf pan and bake for about 30 to 35 minutes, or until baked through. Allow to cool slightly – serve!
