One of the things I love about shopping at Whole Foods is the recipes they create for their deli and prepared foods departments. This watermelon lemonade is always a big hit during the summer. It’s easy to make and is very refreshing on a hot summer day. You can easily vary this recipe by adding other fruits or lots of ice for a nice slushy. However you decide to make it, you will add this to your summer recipe collection year after year.
Ingredients – Watermelon Lemonade
- 6 cups 1-inch cubes seedless watermelon
- 1 (10 oz) bottle organic lemon juice (or same amount of juice squeezed from fresh lemons)
- 6 cups of water
- 3/4 cup sugar
- crushed ice
- mint sprigs, for garnish
Working in batches, puree watermelon and lemon juice in a blender until smooth. Transfer to a large bowl and add water and sugar. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Pour over ice in tall glasses and garnish with mint or a wedge of watermelon perched on the edge of the glass.
