A group calling themselves the Food Liberation Army (FLA) has taken responsibility for the kidnapping of a Ronald McDonald statue from a Helsinki restaurant earlier this week. They are threatening to take drastic measures by “executing” Ronald on Friday, February 11, at 6:30 pm, if their questions are not addressed. Their hope? For a “better and safer food future”.
“We are the Food Liberation Army, and we hope that this extreme action will take us towards a better and safer food future,” the black-hooded group says on their video. Their demands pertain to manufacturing processes and corporate responsibility. “We can no longer watch in silence as the food we love is being destroyed and brought to shame because of greed and indifference,” they add.
You can read about it in Finnish, with photos of the FLA actually taking Ronald out the door, here.
What do you think about such drastic measures being taken? What questions would you ask McDonald’s?
