Today I made a batch of Royal Wedding Sugar Cookies. Royal purple sprinkles and a personalized etching of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s names – in a heart shaped cookie of course. The personalized names started out so well and ended, well, not perfectly – lets hope Will and Kate’s wedding goes better than the end result of these cookies!.. at least they were quite fun and tasty…
I made these cookies after buying Williams-Sonoma’s Message in a Cookie product.
As you can see, the baked cookies didn’t turn out as well as the pre-baked cookies shapes and lettering – but I am confidant that I will improve the end result next go around. Really, the simple solution is to use a sugar cookie recipe with very little baking powder/soda – so that the cookies do not rise too much and morph the way mine did. Another tip is to cut the shapes and place on a baking sheet – then chill the baking sheet (with cookie dough cut outs) for a few minutes – then place directly in the oven.
Other than that, I think this tool is quite fun and I can’t wait to try it again to make personalized “happy birthday” – and more – cookies.
Royal Wedding Cookies. These royal purple cookies are the perfect festive treat to add to your wedding-viewing party. Pass the sugar cookies – and tea please.
