Each summer at our state fair we head straight to one of our favorite booths for a delightful little treat on a stick: a Scotch Egg. A hard-boiled egg wrapped in sausage, coated in bread crumbs and deep friend, this traditional picnic food is to be taken seriously, and oh, we take ours seriously, with a side of horseradish.
Just as we look forward to Scotch eggs at the fair, we also look forward to family movies that we can all enjoy, from young to old. I grew up in a Disney household, where each new Disney animated film release was anticipated and talked about with anxious excitement in your voice. Now that I have my own kids, we do the same, and Disney and Pixar’s newest film, BRAVE, is no exception.
Get your brave face on (though I think this face is my daughter’s “you’re taking a picture now?” face), and get ready for a ride you’re sure to enjoy.
About BRAVE, due out June 22nd:
“”Brave” follows the heroic journey of Merida, a skilled archer and headstrong daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the unruly and uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric Witch (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to harness all of her skills and resources including her clever and mischievous triplet brothers to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late, discovering the meaning of true bravery.”
