hash browns with a secret ingredient

I’ve been making these Savory Hash Browns for a few weeks now since “breakfast for dinner” has been a constant craving. Alongside my stuffed to the brim breakfast burrito filled with tofu scramble  – I add a scoop of these crispy, crunchy, savory, cheezy, golden hash browns. Normally hash browns are considered quite savory-delicious. But add in my secret (healthy) ingredient for an even deeper level of yum!..

And the secret ingredient is…

Nutritional Yeast. Yes, my secret is the flaky yellow stuff known fondly as nutritional yeast. If you haven’t tried this stuff  yet, what are you waiting for? It’s an amazing pantry item to have in your kitchen. One big tub which costs around $10 should last you a few long weeks. Of course – in my house, I go through a giant tub of this stuff in a few weeks easily. I sprinkle it on everything from mashed potatoes, to veggies to rice and quinoa. And one night I added it to my hash browns for pure hash brown bliss! Something about the flaky, crispy, decadent potatoes infused with a light dusting of nutritional yeast that was simply perfect.

And bonus! nutritional yeast is super healthy for you.

So grab your favorite hash browns recipe – or make it super easy and use frozen hash browns to try this savory delicious flavor combo..
