One of the beauties of shrimp, like most seafood, is that you really don’t have to do much to it to make it taste fantastic, just a little seasoning and a few minutes in the saute pan. Nature’s already taken care of the rest. That’s one of the things that makes shrimp and grits such a great option for busy parents. The shrimp’s easy and the grits just need a few stirs. Other than that, it’s just a matter of perfecting your flavor.
We’ve been tinkering with our shrimp and grits lately and I think we have a pretty good recipe down pat at this point. For a little extra flavor, we’ve added some andouille sausage (we also add some of the fat from the sausage to the grits for extra wonderfulness) and some cheddar cheese to those grits. But shrimp and grits is one of those recipes that invites experimentation. If you want to try ours, head over to Brooklyn Supper. If you want to share yours, leave it in the comments.
