Simple Japanese Steamed Pork Buns

nikuman, japanese steamed pork buns

One of my favorite snacks from Japan are steamed pork buns, called nikuman (pronounced “knee-koo-mawn”).  These steamed buns are similar to Chinese steamed buns called baozi, or bao.  I fell in love with nikuman when I moved to Japan the first time.  They are sold at most of the convenience stores, making them an easy snack to grab on the go.  These little buns, however, are easily made at home.  While they take a bit of time to make, they aren’t difficult, and the result is well worth the effort! Head over to my blog to get my recipe for nikuman!
