There are a few things you should always know about your spouse … their favorite pie is one of them. My husband loves pecan pie. It is hands-down favorite dessert (I just confirmed this statement with a quick phone call just to make sure).
Being the self-proclaimed non-baker that I am, I am sad to admit that I have never made pecan pie from scratch. When I saw this recipe from Food52 though, I was nudged by the notion that I could possibly pull off this pie, and even look like a rock star wife afterwards. I love that this recipes uses maple syrup instead of corn syrup and utilizes some fun and not-so-pecan-pie-traditional ingredients like rum and star anise.
