From Starbucks website: “On April 22 we’re inviting everyone to bring in a reusable mug or tumbler and get a free brewed coffee or tea. Your choice of brew, hot or iced it is spring after all! This is happening at participating stores in the United States and Canada.”

Why is Starbucks doing this?..

They say, “We recognize the impact one can make through careful, conscious choices. So we want to encourage and reward those of you who use tumblers or travel mugs in your daily routines. You’re helping to reduce our environmental impact!”

Starbucks even has a “Celebrate Earth Day at Starbucks” Facebook page where you can say you are “attending” – over 209,000+ people are already signing on to attend free drink day at Starbucks!

So whatever your brew: dark roast, decaf, chai or a fancy latte or cream-topped frappe, head into Starbucks and celebrate Earth Day. OK, so I guess you can only celebrate Earth Day – for free – if you get a basic coffee or tea – but at least you can give some love to the planet by bringing in your own mug and saving a paper one, no matter what your bevie of choice. I must admit, on a sunny spring day I am a soy frappe kind of girl! But I will be passing on those red velvet whoopie pies…
