It’s that time of year again for the strawberry festival. The Florida strawberry festival in Plant City started on March 3 and is running through the weekend until march 13. We’re attending the festival tomorrow, but I couldn’t wait to get some good old-fashioned strawberry shortcake. Strawberries are very cheap now because they are in season. I went out and got a large 2 lb package for a steal of a deal. There are also still lots of u-pick farms in the area where you can get as many berries as you want for very little money. For more information on u-pick farms, visit PickYourOwn.org.
Here is my quick and easy recipe for strawberry shortcake using buttermilk biscuits. I made my berries boozy by adding a little homemade wine, but you can add any liquor, liqueur, or wine you have on hand that sounds good to you. I added some fresh whipped cream, and that’s it. It’s too easy. You can can find my recipe for strawberry shortcake on my personal blog, Eclectic Recipes.
