So my obsession with strawberry compote continues. This was a last-minute dessert for some kids who came over for dinner: basically just thin pieces of toasted pound cake alternating with the compote and topped with whipped cream. Again, that compote came from last-legs strawberries — they just simmered in a saucepan with sugar and lemon juice and I’ve been reaping the rewards all week. And those rewards don’t have to be stacked four layers high — it’s just as satisfying spread on one tiny piece of pound cake.
