Sugar Free Hot Chocolate

In keeping with my idea for food resolutions this year I am starting off with making my daily indulgence of hot chocolate sugar free. At first this seemed daunting since I don’t really love to use artificial sweeteners. However, I’ve found that a little goes a long way and I actually don’t miss the overly sweetened hot chocolate I’ve become accustomed to. Here is how I am indulging my favorite drink in a new, sugar-free, fashion this year.

Sugar-Free Hot Chocolate

adapted from Hershey’s kitchens

4 cups 1 % milk

pinch of salt

1/4 cup Hershey’s cocoa

1/3 cup hot water

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons Truvia sweetener

1. In a small saucepan combine the cocoa, salt and Truvia. Stir in the water and stir constantly until the mixture comes to a low boil. Then, add in the milk and reduce the heat, stirring constantly. Stir in the vanilla extract and milk. Pour into mugs and serve.
