Superbowl Time---Time to EAT!Jaime
That’s right. This coming Sunday, February 6, 2011 at 6:30 ET on Fox, millions will be gathered to watch Green Bay and the Steelers in their own living rooms. And if it’s superbowl time, then let’s kick it off with great food.
Although I’m not a huge football fan, I love the utterly relaxing feeling of everyone gathering around a TV, with tons of comfort food. I can honestly say I’ve never watched a full superbowl before. But I do remember what was served at the last superbowl gathering I went to. There are plenty of superbowl food ideas, but when I was trying to come up with something, my mom and I brainstormed, asking What would a man love? We immediately thought of sausage and peppers. They smell fantastic, and when you add green and yellow peppers for the Packers, or red and yellow peppers for the Steelers (too bad there aren’t blue or black peppers!), then stick them on hoagie buns, you have the perfect superbowl food.
1 package Italian Sausage
1 large onion, cut in thin slices
bell peppers of assorted colors, cut in strips
good quality hot dog buns, or hoagie buns, toasted
In a large skillet set over medium heat, brown the sausage. Add peppers and onions, and let brown. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let cook until sausage is completely cooked. Serve with buns.
