Sugar is toxic. That’s what Dr. Mercola claims, anyway. His case against our sweet, sweet friend is rather compelling. He claims sugar is a poison, for obesity, as well as chronic and lethal diseases. He recommends dropping your total fructose intake to 25 milligrams per day, which isn’t much sweet at all.
For my family, we tend to reserve sugar in the form of baked goods or candies only for special occasions. That generally means less than once a month. However, fructose comes in all types of different foods, so eliminating sugars is still something we’re keenly aware of.
