My oldest daughter has been in a bit of a rut lately. Though she’s relished her position as the “big girl” of the family, she’s been having a hard time coming to terms with all that growing up means (looming particularly large is knowing she’ll eventually need to part with her lovey). To give her a boost I’ve been doing little things to cheer her up — reading special books, retelling her birth story, cooking with her, and making weekday breakfasts special.
But if you think the life of a food blogger is paved with pillows of fresh french toast each morning, think again (from overflowing sinks of dishes to begging said big girl to please get dressed for the 5th time, chaos reigns supreme). So I’ve been turning to a few favorite recipes that can be made ahead (often taking only minutes to throw together) and then reheated for a special morning treat. If you have a little one who could use some weekday morning cheer, head below the jump for 7 tasty make-ahead breakfast ideas.
