These are Carrboro, North Carolina-based food artisan April McGreger’s prized sour cherries, which are preserved in gorgeous authentic old-fashioned jars, and they are astonishingly delicious. Use them to top ice cream, pancakes, angel food cake…or eat them straight from a spoon. They are the very last vestiges of summer’s bounty. We’re giving you a chance to win them now.

P.S. Like cherries? Julie Van Rosendaal can teach you how a top Vancouver chef preserves them here. Caroline Campion makes killer “silver dollar hots” (that’s pancakes) topped with them here.
