The Hard Sell of a Home Cook

There are two predictable outcomes when introducing your family to new foods. They’ll either love it… or hate it. And let’s face it, some foods require more of a hard sell than others.


Even the best used car salesman would have failed trying to sell my California family on the creamy culinary pride of the South that is Grits. First came the questions:

What are grits? They are stone ground corn.

Are they gritty? No, they are creamy.

What do they taste like? They will taste like crusty top mac-n-cheese. I call them, Grits California.

SOLD.

Now when the barrage of dinner time questions come, they sound like, “Can we have Grits California again?”
