Today's Horoscope: What New Zodiac Signs Reveal for 2011

The whole internet is abuzz with the news.  The standard Zodiac calendar, accepted for more than 2,000 years since the ancient Babylonians first conjured the relationship of stars to our daily lives, may need some tweaking.  Astrologists in Minnesota declared this week that a wobble in relationship between earth and moon likely means the Zodiac dates are off by about a month.

Along with this time-shifting revelation comes another, even more mind blowing annoucement.  Under this new calendar, the oft-overlooked 13th horoscope sign, Ophiuchus, now has a clear place in the new Zodiac calendar.  For firm horoscope believers everywhere, this means many not only fall under the name and traits of a new sign, but November 29th-December 17th babies are now part of an almost unheard of constellation.

So what do all of these Zodiac alterations mean for everyday life.  Probably not a lot.  Many are calling the new calendar a sham.  While others insist that the calendar is only in effect for children born on this date or later, which means every other one of the 6 billion people alive on earth today can continue under their familiar signs.  Perhaps the greatest prediction to come out of today’s Zodiac Calendar shift is this: nothing in this world is as constant as change.  Even the stars.

Do you sense a change in your Zodiac?  Here’s the new calendar.  Check out your new sign and see if you agree with the traits below, then head into the kitchen and cook up your own fortune cookies, since the stars may no longer be telling us what we need to hear.

Homemade Fortune Cookies
3 egg whites
3/4 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. white flour
2 T. butter
1/2 tsp. pure vanilla
Mix all ingredients together until very smooth. Spoon 1-2 teaspoons onto a cookie sheet (covered in parchment is best), spread with a flat knife until you’ve created very thin circles of batter. Bake in an oven preheated to 350 degrees for about 5 minutes, or just until the edges turn brown. Remove from the oven and immediately put a fortune in the center of each cookie. Fold in half, twist backward, pinch gently in the center to close. Allow to cool, uncovered for 1-2 hours. Cookies will harden as they air dry
