Today, March 14 is national pi day. The day to celebrate the mathematical number pi. If you weren’t snoozing in school, you may remember that we learned pi is the number 3.14. Well, it’s actually an infinite number that goes on and on. I remember my math teacher calculating it out one day to about the 200 number, enough to fill up a small chalkboard. The number is related to a circle, it represents “the relationship between a circle’s diameter (its width) and its circumference (the distance around the circle).” Yes, I had to go look that up to be sure at PiDay.org.
For pi day here at the family kitchen, we thought it would be fun to celebrate with our best pies. Here’s our top 10 list of our favorite spring and summer pies, with a few savory pies thrown in too.
