Knowing how to make your own turkey gravy from scratch can come in handy. Once you have mastered the quick and easy basics, you can easily make variations with meat, chicken, and even seafood.
Ingredients (Yield 18 servings or about 2.5 cups)
Drippings from 1 roasted turkey
1/2 to 1 cup low-sodium Turkey or Chicken Broth
1/2 cup 1% milk
1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon chicken bouillon granules
1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning
1/8 teaspoon ground pepper
1. Pour all of the Turkey drippings into a 2-cup measuring cup. Allow to settle then skim and discard fat.
2. Add enough chicken or turkey broth to the drippings to bring the volume up to measure 2 cups; and then transfer to a small saucepan and bring to a boil.
3. In a small bowl, combine milk and flour and mix until smooth. Slowly mix this into the drippings mixture. Stir in the bouillon granules, poultry seasoning and white pepper. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.
