White Cheddar Mac & Cheese

This recipe for mac and cheese doesn’t look like much.  It doesn’t take long to make, either. It’s just plain and simple by most definitions. But, the flavor of this recipe is absolutely astonishing. Have you ever sat down at a table, put a bite into your mouth, and felt to exclaim, “Good Sakes! What in the world is this heavenly stuff I’m eating?” Be prepared. That will happen again with this recipe. It’s full of flavor and satisfying texture, while appearing as common as can be.

White Cheddar Mac and Cheese

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 1/2 cups white cheddar, grated
  • 1/2 cup asagio cheese, grated
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 16 ounces pasta, cooked

In a large saucepan melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour to create a thick roux, then slowly whisk in the milk. Cook until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in the remaining ingredients until smooth. Spoon over pasta. Serve immediately and enjoy!
