Part organic food primer, part cookbook. Anna Getty’s Easy Green Organic is a great introduction to organic and sustainable cooking with recipes that will make your next dinner party special, as well as ones that will work for harried weekends. What makes a book like this so great is that it’s important to take time to cook and eat together and to be mindful of what you’re eating. Food brings people together and creates family memories that will last you and your children forever.
One of our family food traditions in apple picking, followed by apple sauce making, which we did this past weekend. This late in October in New York state the season is pretty much over and the pickings were kind of slim. As you can see from the picture, the apples we got weren’t the most beautiful. But, these apples will make great applesauce. Lots and lots of applesauce. A freezer full of applesauce. I’m hoping that as our daughter gets older, she’ll appreciate the idea of picking our own apples and making our own sauce, but for now, at least I know she loves the applesauce itself. She won’t even touch the store-bought stuff.
Anna Getty’s Easy Green Organic has a lot of great recipes and advice for parents who are similarly concerned with organic, seasonal, and sustainable food.
