Worms and Dirt Pudding Pops

hand with worm

I remember really loving my mom’s pudding pops as a kid but I haven’t had one since.  And I thought, is that weird?  Probably not, when you consider all the marketing dictates that pudding pops are for kids and not adults.  Not anymore! Last week we went to a “dirt birthday party” and instead of a cake they served worms in dirt.  My kids went nuts!  So here goes: I’m making the pudding and my daughter is taking the lead on the dirt and worms.

Worms in Dirt Recipe

1 box chocolate cook and serve pudding

3 cups of milk

¼ cup crushed chocolate cookies (the outside of an oreo)

1 bag of gummy worms

Freezable containers or cups

Popsicle sticks

Make the pudding according to the package and place in the refrigerator to cool.  Get the containers (my daughter chose a variety of cups she found around the house) and place a gummy worm in the bottom, then cover with a thin layer of crushed cookies.  Once the pudding is cool, spoon it into the cups and tap to get the air bubbles out.  Place a popsicle stick in the center and a couple of worm parts on top and sprinkle with crushed cookies.  Freeze overnight.  We made 7 varying sizes of pops.
