1 More Thing You Didn't Know About M.I.A. – She's a Deadbeat Mom!

Is she missing in action in her son's life?

Looks like the Super Bowl audience isn’t the only target of M.I.A.‘s scorn. A report out today says the controversial singer has flipped the bird (metaphorically speaking, of course) to her fiance and her 3-year-old son!

The New York Daily News quotes a source who says M.I.A. has split from longtime love Benjamin Bronfman and now spends most of her time in London while Bronfman and their son, Ikhyd Edgar Arular Bronfman, live in New York.

Worse, she “sometimes goes six weeks without seeing” little Ikhyd. His grandmother, Sherry Bronfman, is reportedly helping her son raise him.

Granted, it’s not so easy for the singer to visit. M.I.A. isn’t a U.S. citizen or resident alien, and has had issues with immigration because of things she’s said about turmoil in Sri Lanka and her dad’s alleged ties to a terror group there.

However, she could have obtained her green card long ago by marrying Bronfman, and refused to do it because it would cause her to “lose her integrity.”

But you know who couldn’t care less about M.I.A.’s pride and self-righteousness? Her son. A boy barely out of toddlerhood who has no clue about Super Bowl concerts, middle fingers and the meaning of marriage. All he knows is that his mommy isn’t at home anymore.

If she’s not moving heaven and earth to reach some kind of international joint custody arrangement – or to get U.S. residency so she can visit more often – then she’s failed the one fan who matters most in the world.

And all the concerts and album sales in the world can’t make up for that.
