Whenever one of my friends gets pregnant for the very first time, usually one of the first things she asks me is either how to survive the pregnancy without losing her mind, or how to shed those pesky post-baby pounds!
My answers to these questions are something along the lines of: a.) relax and enjoy yourself and don’t feel bad about being selfish while you are pregnant, and b.) don’t put too much pressure on yourself about losing the weight…just enjoy the baby and the pounds will come off when they’re supposed to.
Many celebrity moms seem to handle pregnancy and losing baby weight with ease, so it’s always interesting to hear their advice and tips on the subjects.
Gwyneth Paltrow had some great advice for how to handle pregnancy back when she was expecting daughter Apple. She used a holistic doctor and said, “Understanding what was happening was a big help. Then, when I felt a little hand or elbow or something, it was amazing – even if a bit of a shock, as if there’s an alien in your stomach.”
With regards to losing baby weight, Gwyneth’s advice was, “You have to exercise to get it all back. It was tough, very tough. So it was that and blusher and a girdle!”
