Baby bumps on the beach give the term “beached whale” a whole new meaning.

With summer vastly approaching and a whole slew of celebrities with a baby on the way, we thought it’d be appropriate to take a look at celebrity moms from the past who have taken their bumps to the beach!

Britney Spears, Tori Spelling, and Nicole Richie have all gone as far as wearing bikini while expecting. And Rachel Griffiths, January Jones, and Gwen Stefani wiggled their toes in the sand as they rocked a one-piece. To each their own!

We can’t help but celebrate the celebrities who rocked their baby bumps on the beach in the past with many more to come this summer! Take a look at the photos below.

Nicole Richie

(Sept. 2007) A pregnant Nicole Richie spends sunrise on a Hawaii beach with her beau and father of her child, Joel Madden. Richie and Madden went to great efforts of evading the long lenses of the Paparazzi by building a fortress using three hotel cabanas. The pair headed back into the hotel before the beach got too busy but not before Nicole took a quick dip in the ocean to cool off. Joel then acted as a blocker for his pregnant girlfriend and greated the awaiting photogs with a early morning hand gesture. Nicole was sporting a two piece green bikini and a four seaons towel while Joel wore his usual black attire. The pair were not seen for the rest of the day.
