Call it a makeover!

Movies are supposed to take us into an alternate universe; provide an escape from our everyday lives. But when celebrities are so transfixed throughout the tabloids and the media, it’s hard to divide a line between real life drama and that on the big screen.

When it comes to high-profile celebrities such as Mariah Carey, Halle Berry, and Beyonce, producers often rely on makeup and CGI to transform such actresses. That way, we’re not distracted by who the actors are rather than the role they are playing. (Case in point: Gigli.)

Most of the transformations that we would call our favorites are Oscar-nominated roles. They’re often the roles that stand out come awards season and they certainly stood out to us as well.

Take a look at 10 celebrity transformations below!
