Toddlers & Tiaras has become one of the most controversial reality shows on TV, as it raises concerns about the children involved in kiddie pageants – and portrays their parents (moms, mostly) as slightly insane women who have no regard for their daughters’ well being.
People magazine ran a feature about the controversy surrounding Toddlers & Tiaras, further putting the spotlight on what goes on at child pageants.
It ain’t pretty. We’ve rounded up the top 10 most controversial Toddlers & Tiaras moments in the photos below.
When six-year-old Toddlers & Tiaras star Eden Wood strutted around in short shorts and a revealing top at Fashion Week, her mom defended the pageant biz, telling E! Online, “All I can say is the people in the pageant industry I know love their kids and would never do anything sexual or objectification or all those words running around.”
As most of these moms claim, their kids want to do pageants and they’ll stop whenever the child wants to. Eden’s mom said: “I ask her on a weekly basis, ‘Baby, are you sure this is what you want to do?’ because we are out three weeks this trip and then home two and then out another two.”
Eden says, “Mom, I want to do it.”
