Barbara Walters Interviewed Elton John On '20/20.'

It was a huge surprise this past Christmas when Elton John announced that he and partner David Furnish welcomed a son, Zachary, via a surrogate. But after tonight’s special episode of 20/20 with Barbara Walters, we realized John had a lot more secrets that we wish we already knew.

Below are some questions that Walters covered in this exclusive interview.

Which one is the biological father?

They still do not know. The fathers mixed their sperm during the fertilization process.

Why in the world did they choose Lady Gaga as the baby’s godmother?

“When you get to the real person underneath, there’s a very simple New York girl who loves her parents,” John said. “I love her to death and a lot of people said, ‘oh, you know, that’s crazy,’ but they don’t know her and we do.”

And why did they take their shirts off in the delivery room?

Elton also says he was the one to cut the umbilical cord, after which he and Furnish both “took our shirts off” and put the baby next to their chests. “They call it skin-to-skin bonding because it’s such a traumatic thing for a baby to come into the world,” says Furnish.

The fathers of Zachary are also very aware of having a celebrity child. “The worst thing you can do to a child, and I’ve seen it happen so many times, is the silver spoon, Being the child of a famous person is very difficult and we’re very well aware of the pitfalls of that,” says Elton.

“Our life might be very luxurious but it’s all come from hard work,” adds Furnish. “Both Elton and I have sort of earned everything we’ve done in our careers and furthered our educations through our own drive and our own ambitions and we want Zachary to be exactly the same sort of way.”

And whether or not they will have more children? “It’s not an impossiblity,” the two men said in unison.

What did you think of the special interview with Elton John? Is there anything you wish you knew that was not discussed?
