21 Celebrities You Didn’t Know Were Latino! From Snooki to Louis C.K.

September 15th through October 15th marks a very special month-long celebration — it is National Hispanic American Month. A time to pay tribute to “the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.”

    Olympian superstar swimmer Ryan Lochte is half Cuban. His mother Ileana was born in Cuba and moved to the U.S. as a child. And he loves classic Cuban cuisine, with some of his favorite dishes being breaded steak, croquettes, and "ropa vieja" that his grandmother makes for him.

In fact, he still has Mexican citizenship. "My experience is as a Mexican immigrant, more so than someone like George Lopez," Louis C.K. said. "He's from California. But he'll be treated as an immigrant. I am an outsider. My abuelita, my grandmother, didn't speak English. My whole family on my dad's side is in Mexico. I won't ever be called that or treated that way, but it was my experience."
