5 Books to Read This Halloween!

We have several traditions that we do every Halloween. We make our daughter’s costume from scratch. We go pick out our pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. We decorate the front door. We watch Nightmare Before Christmas. And last but not least, we read a whole slew of Halloween themed books. There are ghosts, there are goblins, there are cute little vegetarian vampires, there really is something for everyone!

Here are five of our personal favorites which we’ll be reading the Halloween night (after trick-or-treating of course!).

  • New Item 1 1 of 5

Guess what? You can download this book RIGHT now and enjoy at bedtime! it's an incredible sweet and thoughtful book about Kat McGee who is ALL about Halloween but struggles the rest of the year. But during the book she learns, "lessons about sharing the Halloween glory-- and learning to feel like a winner on every day, not just Halloween." So pretty much this book isn't just for Halloween, it's for everyday.

  • Oh No, Not Ghosts! 2 of 5

This isn't just one of my daughter's favorite Halloween-style books, but one of her favorite books period. It's a sweet story of a sister and brother and what happens when their imagination gets the best of them.

  • Bone Soup 3 of 5

This take off of the Stone Soup tale by Cambria Evans is a little creepy but a whole lot of cool. It's a delightful tale of goblins and ghouls coming together for a odd feast.

Over in the Hollow is an adorable Halloween book with graphics that are so engaging and stylish that kids and adults will both be tickled with the images. And the sing-song text makes it not just easy to read but super fun.

  • Vunce Upon A Time 5 of 5

This J. Otto Seibold book (with Siobohan Vivian) is a hilarious take what happens when a vegetarian vampire goes trick-or-treating. It's fun, sweet, and our copy is actually worn from readings!
